About Estepona

Estepona is a city placed in the west coast of the province of Malaga, in southern Spain.

It is well-known by its good climate, which is warm and nice. With an average temperature of 17ºC during the year, and 2850 hours of sun in the year. Furthermore, it is characterized by being one of the most beautiful cities in the Costa del Sol. It is also known as Costa del Sol’s garden, given that its city center was recently remodelled, leaving more than 14 kilometres of streets and squares decorated in the typical andalusian white villages style, with many pot and flowers by the walls. Estepona has a marina, with different shops, restaurants and even a playground

One of the most outstanding places in Estepona is its orchidarium-botanic park, build a few years ago. In addition to the beautiful city center and the orchidarium, Estepona has Selwo Aventura, a great zoo with worldwide animals and some other activities for any age.

Things to do in Estepona

Estepona’s marina is placed near city center. There are many international and Mediterranean food restaurants in there, as well as cocktail bars. Every week there is a street market of handicrafts, which is a tourist attraction.  Next to the marina you can find Puenta Doncella’s lighthouse. The marina is placed between both Pedro Manrique seafront and Del Carmen Avenue. That avenue connects with the western beaches of Estepona. So you can go either western or eastern beaches from the marina.

What is the climate in Estepona?

The average temperature in Estepona during the whole year it’s 17º C. With an average of 24.4ºC, August is the warmest month and 12.5ºC in January, the coldest month. Estepona has 2 850 hours of sun per year. The winds in Estepona, given the closeness to the Strait of Gibraltar, wind are east and west. The wind determinates how the water is. When the wind comes from east, the water is warm, there are waves and seaweed. When the wind comes from west, water is cooler, crystal clear and the sea is quiet.

Benalmadena's beaches

Being one of the cities of Costa del Sol, the beach will always be a good choice to spend the day. Benalmadena has 17 beaches along his 20 km of coastline. The most well-known beaches in Benalmadena are the beaches of Arroyo de la Miel and Carvajal.Go fishing or diving, practice aquatic sports or simply sit down in a beach bar and enjoy a cold drink and the fantastic food. The beach La Morera is a really quiet beach in Benalmadena, beautiful and with clear waters. 

You can also visit nearby beaches in Torremolinos, which has 4 beaches in the locality. The most famous is the beach Los Alamos due to its leisure offer and its nightlife. Its sand is dark because of its volcanic origin. If you want to rent a boat in Torremolinos, it has no port, but you will only have to move to the adjacent city of Benalmadena. Hire a sailboat, yacht or motorboat and sail across the Mediterranean while you look up to the amazing landscape from the sea.
